So, what is it like to be a disciple of Christ? Being a disciple of Christ is learning who Jesus Christ is and believing what the Bible says about Him, then putting your faith into practice by following His commands and learning to live in obedience to His Word.

"Following Christ isn't rooted in spectacular events, juiced-up conferences, or continual mountaintop experiences. It's found in loving Him, obeying Him, thanking Him, and glorifying Him in the most mundane daily details of life.... For the true disciple of Jesus Christ, every moment is packed with eternal significance, because all of life—even the smallest of details—is lived in His presence" (John MacArthur, Follow Me [Nashville: Thomas Nelson, 2004], 90).

True Christian discipleship is learning to put our knowledge of Christ into practice as we faithfully follow Him as our Lord and Savior every day. It is a day-to-day walk with Christ, It is experiencing His saving grace and becoming like Christ in our attitudes and our actions. It is making choices that please Him. Thinking thoughts that honor Him. Loving others as Christ loved us. And it is learning what it means to follow Him unreservedly.

Do you consider yourself a disciple of Christ? If you have trusted Christ for your salvation then you are a disciple of Christ. And the same lessons He taught His disciples apply to us as well.
